2023 FATHER'S DAY SCHOLARSHIP BRUNCH

The Annual Father’s Day Brunch is the signature event for the Houston Morehouse Alumni Association, whose overall purpose is to increase equity and access to Higher Education for African-American Men. This is done through a robust program that showcases outstanding African-American Fathers and highlights the bond of Fatherhood that binds our ties to the Houston Community.

Proceeds from this signature event will be used to provide scholarships for current and future students of Morehouse College, where annual tuition is more than $40,000 per student. The scholarships provided through the brunch will be awarded to qualified Houston area high school seniors and current Morehouse college students, to assist them with financial support to attend and thrive while at Morehouse College and beyond.

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

Serving as the 2023 Father’s Day Brunch chair is an honor that I will cherish and a responsibility that I do not take lightly. As a native Houstonian, alumni of Morehouse College, and a Husband and Father, this event sits at the intersection of three major parts of my life – the part that raised me, the part that molded me, and the part that challenges me daily to become more that I ever thought I could be.

Having been blessed to attend Morehouse College as the recipient of a scholarship, I understand firsthand how impactful this type of financial support can be and I am committed to creating an event experience that enables the Houston Morehouse Alumni Association to expand its reach with students in need.

Thank you for your support and please know that every financial contribution you make has the potential to impact students’ lives decades in the future.

2023 ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Houston Morehouse Alumni Association Annual Scholarship Program is the result of an effort by the chapter members to aid financially deserving High School students from the Houston metropolitan area, that have committed to attending Morehouse College or a Houston-area HBCU (Texas Southern University or Prairie View A&M University). The endowment intends to encourage the matriculation of young men who are academically sound, spiritually conscious, and socially responsible. to learn more about the application requirements and deadlines for this year, please click below.

COMMUNITY HONOREE AWARDS

Each year at our Annual Father’s Day Brunch, in addition to  awarding scholarships to deserving students, the Houston Morehouse Alumni Association also honors members of the Houston community by presenting the following Awards:

Alvin Wardlaw Mentorship Award

Albert James Price, Sr. Community Service Award

Dr. Dezra White Leadership Award

These Awards are presented after a nominations committee carefully reviews the slate of nominees for each of the Awards. We rely on the support and insight of members of the community to provide us with perspective on potential Awardees that are making a substantial impact in the community.
